TWO-COMPONENT ADHESIVES IN THE RANGE
Two-Component Adhesives: Epoxy, Acrylic and Polyurethane
Two-component adhesives combine separately supplied components to form a reactive bond. The right system depends on your substrates, their surfaces, the load and the steps in your production process.

How to narrow down the right 2K system
Start with both substrates and their surface condition. Then assess loads, bond geometry, service conditions and the planned process. Epoxy, acrylic and polyurethane describe the adhesive chemistry; “two-component” describes the separately supplied components. The mixing ratio and working window always refer to the individual product.

Selecting a 2K adhesive
What to check after comparing products
For your shortlist, check the specified mixing ratio, the time available for application and positioning, and when the bond may be loaded. Working time, open time, fixing time and cure time are different measures. Also check whether the product data support the actual surface preparation and service conditions. Send your component and process details to the adhesive specialists for a focused review.

Questions about 2K selection
What does two-component adhesive mean?
A two-component adhesive consists of separately supplied components that are combined according to the instructions for the specific product and then react. The term does not identify the adhesive chemistry: the range includes epoxy, acrylic and polyurethane systems, for example. When choosing a product, consider the substrates, the required properties of the bond and the processing method as well as the number of components.
How do working time and cure time differ?
Working time is the period during which a mixed adhesive can be processed. Full cure describes a different state and may be reached much later. Open time and time to handling strength also need separate checks. The product data illustrate the distinction: DP8010 has a stated working time of 8–10 minutes, while full cure is given as 8–24 hours at 22 °C. Do not apply these figures to other two-component systems.
Which 2K adhesives suit difficult-to-bond plastics?
Systems specifically identified for low surface energy plastics may be suitable. The acrylic system 3M Scotch-Weld DP8010 in the range lists PE, PP and TPE among its substrates. That does not mean every acrylic or two-component adhesive works on every plastic. Tell us the exact plastic and surface condition so the product and any required preparation can be assessed for your application.
What matters when mixing the components?
The mixing ratio and method specified for the individual product are decisive. These instructions can differ even within one adhesive family. Incorrect mixing or application outside the specified time window can impair the bond. Before use, check the relevant technical data sheet, the required amount and the sequence from mixing and application to positioning the parts.
What information does Krückemeyer need to select a suitable 2K adhesive?
Provide details of both substrates, their surface condition, the bond geometry, mechanical loads and service conditions. For processing, the mixing and application method, available working time and the point at which the assembly must move to the next step are useful. With this information, the adhesive specialists at Krückemeyer GmbH can narrow down the systems in the listing and review any open product requirements with you.
